Our client, an established and progressive pome fruit and table grape producer in the Rawsonville/Slanghoek Valley area, is seeking an experienced and practical individual with strong leadership skills to join their team as a Farm Manager.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan, implement, and monitor the full annual production cycle.
- Manage irrigation, fertilization, pruning, crop protection, and pest control.
- Monitor vineyard quality, yields, and production targets.
- Organize, lead, and develop farm employees.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, quality, and health & safety standards.
- Prepare for and manage GLOBALG.A.P., SIZA, and WIETA audits.
- Maintain accurate production and operational records.
- Oversee the maintenance of vehicles, equipment, and farm infrastructure.
- Provide regular feedback to the owner on production and farm performance.
REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum of 8 years’ practical experience in pome fruit and table grape production.
- A tertiary qualification in Agriculture will be advantageous.
- Strong knowledge of modern pome fruit and vineyard production practices.
- Good understanding of irrigation, fertilization, pruning, and crop protection.
- Experience in managing and developing staff.
- Valid driver’s licence (Code 10 will be advantageous).
- Mechanical aptitude and knowledge of farm machinery will be beneficial.
- Knowledge of quality, food safety, and/or GLOBALG.A.P., SIZA, and WIETA standards.
- Computer literate.
- Willing to work overtime and weekends when required.
